Trip to the U.K. Day one: Dover!

I'm gonna post the outfits I wore on our trip here and the pictures I took on http://thecanongirl.blogspot.com/ so click there to check out the gorgeous pictures I took of the English countryside! Lucky for the lazy people out there who don't even want to click the link, there's a tiny bit of English countryside in the pictures of my outfit too! But I still suggest you do check out my other blog. :-D Comfyness is key when you go on a trip (come to think of it, comfyness is key ALWAYS) so that is always my first concern. So I ended up with my sweet purple Joan Holloway dress (I have dresses picked out in my closet for every leading lady in Mad Men... is that weird?) with a waistcoat and my dirty boots. I love my hair with it. I love my hair with anything, really. :-D I got loads of compliments on it, too. A little summary of the first day: We had to catch the 12 o clock ferry in Dunkirk and we needed to check in at least forty five minutes before the ferry would leave. It was an hour and a half drive from our home to Dunkirk which is actually pretty decent. The sailing was 2 hours from Dunkirk to Dover (of course we would arrive only one hour later in Dover since we go back one hour) and the weather was wonderful so we could soon spot the white cliffs of Dover coming closer. The ferry itself was fine, the food was vile but oh well. :-D A terribly charming picture of me on the boat:
(this was inside)

You can see Dover Castle and some White Cliffs behind me. We took a walk on the cliffs but we had to cut it a little short since I'm a clumsy mofo, I twisted my ankle and fell on my ass. Luckily, all is well with my ankle now, it hurts a tiny bit but it was nothing serious. On the day itself it hurt a little more, so after I twisted my ankle I hopped back to the car, we parked next to a teahouse and had a lovely warm cuppa. When it comes to the use of tea, England is my dream country. I drink tea everyday, even in summer I love my tea. The cake was dry as hell but I didn't really care, I was over the moon to be on a romantic trip with my man!
After we had some tea and dry ass cake, we went to our hotelroom at the Holiday Inn Express in Folkestone (only 20 minutes away from Dover), took a shower, I slapped on some eyeliner and a pretty dress and we were ready to go out to eat!
I planned on wearing this dress with my gorgeous heeled boots but I didn't think that was such a smart idea after twisting my ankle an hour earlier so I just wore these. It didn't look all that bad though! Also, this dress is awesome. We went to a little bistro in Dover, super cosy and the food was very nice. I stuck to something safe, I had chips and steak with some salad (srsly though English peeps, if you wanna give salad with your dish you actually need salad, not a baked tomato and peas) and it was lovely! My boy had a different kind of meat, both cooked very well. I was a litte scared of the English kitchen since my stomach is pretty sensitive when it comes to greasy foods. So I did stick to the safest things I could find when it came to food, I didn't want to spend my holiday in the bathroom. When we came back from the bistro I was so tired, I just slipped into my jammies and went to bed. My boy made me a cup of tea, snuggled with me and watched some TV but also fell asleep pretty quickly. That was our day!

Locks of fall

Hey babes, while I got some gorgeous pictures of our trip to Dover/Canterbury coming up, I just wanted to do a quick post to show you guys my newly dyed hair! I’m supersuper happy with it, the colors are gorgeous and bright and very fall-y! This combination of colors is so me, the red is incredibly flattering and funky with my fair skin and the yellow and green are just perfect to go with it. Yellow hair dye is awesome and people should use it more often! Yellow goes great with green, blue, red, purple, pink… it’s so funky and cute with everything! Especially this yellow, fantastically goldenyellow. Can you guys feel how happy I am with my hair? :-D And a big thanks to my loverboy, he always does an amazing job when he helps me with my hair and he does so without complaining or moaning! Thanks babe!

I am so happy I took the step to get parts of my hair bleached so that I could put bright colors in, I’ve wanted to do so since probably the first time I saw Pokemon (when I was six or seven, maybe?), Misty with her lovely bright orange crooked ponytail… it’s still engraved into my mind. Anime has been my great inspiration when it comes to my hair. Now I can’t wait to try out some other color combinations, I got some turquoise too so that should turn out gorgeous as well. If any of you are interested in dying your hair in a punky color but you don’t know where to order it or what color you want, I suggest you take a look at beeunique . I got amazing tips, reviews and other stuff at that site and you can order all kinds of dyes there! I use ‘directions’ hair dye and I’m completely satisfied.

If this isn't awesome hair, I don't know what is! :-D

Yellow Submarine

It’s a simple outfit, I wanted to start out careful with this shirt. I adore the color and I will have loads of fun combining it with bolder colors but the day I wore this outfit I was feeling a bit sick and I just wanted a very comfy outfit with a little pick me up of color. So here I was with my bright yellow shirt and hot pink scarf :-D.

My hair is newly dyed this very moment, by the way! My boyfriend helped me and it turned out freaking awesome, I’m not going to say anything about the color(s) yet but I assure you: it’ll rock your socks off!
Since previous weeks haven’t been honkydory in my life, me and my boy planned a little two day trip to the U.K. this thursday! We’ll stay in Folkstone at a hotel and I think we’ll hang out in Dover the first day. The white cliffs of Dover will be awesome to take pictures of and the weather’s supposed good so the english countryside with a bit of sunshine should be heaven! Apart from that, no cellphone and internet for two days, just me and my love having fun together! Can’t wait!

The next day I hope we’ll be going to Canterbury! There’s some lovely shops and of course the cathedral! I can’t wait for the cathedral, it already looks freaking intimidating in pictures so I can hardly imagine how big it is in real life. Canterbury looks amazing, I’ll have loads and loads of fun taking pictures! So I can’t wait! It’ll be good to have 2 days off of life, things can seem so heavy and when you have a change of scenery you can let the hard stuff go for a bit. I’ve never been to the U.K. and my boy has never driven on the left side so it’ll be quite the adventure for both of us! :-D

Our hotelroom is pretty cosy too, we can order roomservice and a movie so we’ll have a nice time wherever we plan to go! I’m using a lot of exclamation marks too! I’m just really excited! :-D

Also a little extra, my new nailart!:

Here’s my try on autumn themed nailpolish! All the things I try nailwise end up looking extremely colorful and maybe a little kiddy but that’s the kind of stuff I like, I guess! :-D I adore playing with colors and shapes and that striper & dotting tool set is one of the best buys I’ve done in ages! So happy with it, the colors are amazing and I have endless possibilities. Now that I’ve discovered a whole nailart world on youtube with some awesome tutorials, I can’t wait for the next nailart I’ll make! Enjoy! :-)

So happy together

Casual party is the only occasion that more or less could describe the day I spent with my family. Once very 2 or three years we can be together with the whole family, mainly because part of my family lives in the U.S. My brother, his wife and their two daughters can only come and visit once every so many years because it’s hella expensive for them to come with the entire family. Because of the bad situation with my dad, my brother pretty much jumped on the plane as soon as he could (without his wife and kids, sadly) and came over to Belgium to spend some time with our dad and the family. While everything was a little messy and uhm, unplanned, we did have a lovely time together.

One of the many things that are unpleasant about this situation is that, once we spend a lot of time (or just more than usual) together and everyone gets scattered back into the world again because life has to go on, you realise even more how much you miss eachother. The more contact you have and the more moments you share together, the more you realise all the little things you miss. Kind of unfair if you think about it, the less time you spend together, the less you remember what it actually is that makes that person so wonderful hence the less you miss it. But once you remember that you had so much fun together and feel so comfortable with one another, like family should be, well, that just sucks. :-D I do hope that I can see my sister in law and nieces soon, I miss them too.

By the way: Thank you for all of your kind words! I really appreciate all the support and you always make me smile. Luckily, my dad is getting better. Slowly but steadily, he is regaining speech and I even think he’s getting a little more movement in his right side. He’s gonna have to work hard to train all of his muscles and his mind but I’m sure he can do it. We’ll just have to wait and see how much progress he can still make. Thank you again. :-)

What is wrong with this picture? :-D
Seriously, I do the best imitation of Timmy from South Park I've ever seen. :-D
A super sweet picture of my oldest brother and me!
Brotherly love. Whether they're 30 or 12, boys will be boys.
My oldest brother, Maarten.
my youngest brother, David.
My older sister Annebeth, trying to shut up my brother Maarten. He was saying something that should not be repeated about 'Black Swan'. :-D And my mum.
My brother and his wife Marijn, sharing a tender moment. Which I will now share with the interwebz. :-D
My sis and her boyfriend Filip, sharing a less intimate but equally sweet moment.
And of course, for something completely different, A scottsman on a horse? No, just silly pictures.

Hope you enjoyed the pictures. :-)
