Romantic Punk

I'm a little tired and very content! My sister, my mom, my boy and me went to the monthly sales at our favorite vintage shop in Antwerp, Think Twice. Everything for 2 euro. I think I got 12 items or something. :-D One coat, one leather coat, 3 skirts, 3 dresses, one cardi, 3 jumpers.. yep that seems about right. Now I don't have to go shopping for the upcoming winter anymore. Maybe some boots at the sales but other than that I'm completely good! Everything fits like a dream and I got everything I needed! Warm jumpers, wool skirts, a very thick, slightly oversized coat (so that I can wear a jumper underneath the coat too!), 3 gorgeous dresses (two of them very holiday spirited!), I'm so happy. After we came back from Antwerp I went to the post office to send a little package to my niece in the U.S. who turned twelve this November (shame on me for not sending her a gift earlier!). Now I'm gonna watch some stupid TV program and drink a big cup of mint tea with honey! And maybe some potato salad. See ya laters, alligators! OH and I will be posting pics of my new clothes soon!

a little cameo of my man and my old little doggie, wagging her tail at us! I'm crazy about both of them! :-D

R.I.P. Freddie Mercury: Lover of life, singer of songs.

My outfit has absolutely zilch squat to do with Freddie but I did want to talk a bit about this wonderful creature who was known as Freddie Mercury. First off, I invite you to listen to some Queen with me. My favorite songs and of course the most amazing tribute concert in the History of Mankind.

'Somebody to love' sung by George Michael at the Tribute Concert. I always cry when, at the end, the crowd ends the song just as perfectly as Freddie used to do. It always surprises me, for some reason, that George Michael was such a great singer.

From that same Tribute Concert, I can't forget my love Roger Daltrey with his amazing 'I want it all' cover.

Rawr. That song was basically written for Rogers voice. I love love love 'I want it all'. One of my favorite Epic songs ever. It makes me want to cry and scream and dance and jump and headbang. I love these posts of mine, I always remind myself how much I love music. :-D

A special mentioning for 'I want to break free'. Not because it's one of my favorite Queen songs but because they had the guts to do this back than. The video was banned from MTV. Which makes it quite bittersweet for me that they recently got some award from MTV. Anyway, I love Freddie in the video. He's not even handsome but his sexappeal is undeniable, even when he's a mustached lady.

'Mother love' always breaks my heart, while the song is gorgeous I always skip ahead when it comes on my MP3 player. It's a little too emotional to listen to it, especially if you think about the fact that the song had to be finished by Brian May singing the last piece of the song because Freddie wasn't around.

I love ALL Queen songs. Okay two more:

Freddie Mercury + David Bowie = match made in heaven. Kudos to John Deacon for one of the most iconic bassriffs ever.

'Too much love will kill you'

Oh my I almost forgot my little favorite!

'Who wants to live forever'

This song is one of my favorites because of the little speech he gave at one of Queen's 'Wembley' concerts. He adressed some of the rumors that Queen was splitting up. He said the critics were talking out of their asses and that, I quote, 'We're gonna stay together until we fucking die.'. And around that time he already knew that he was HIV-positive. He very much knew what he was singing about. It makes me tear up a bit when I think about it. Yes, I'm a cry baby. :-D I get emotional about my music, yo.

Last but not least... I need to add this too... the anthem of all anthems. Bohemian Rhapsody.

I don't just love Freddie because he was one of the most amazing musicians ever but because he opened so many doors. And, very tragically, he raised awareness for HIV. He was not afraid to dress in drag in a music video back in the eighties. He was not afraid to say to an interviewer 'I'm as gay as a daffodil!'. His writing was spectaculair. His piano skills were out of this world. He inspired millions of people. He had a killer moustache. He had super sexy on stage outfits. He was amazing. Freddie Mercury, ladies and gents.

Now my outfit: (yes more pincurls!)

R.I.P. Freddie. We were born to love you.

Color me Turquoise

More colors, different colors! This time I wanted to use my turquoise dye with my red and green and I'm absolutely loving it. If you could choose between every color of the rainbow, what color(s) would your hair be? Blue? Yellow? Orange with leopard print? (yup, you can do that) or maybe raven black or auburn reddish brown? Or EVERY color of the rainbow? :-D

having bright hair is freaking awesome. Just sayin'.

Spice up your life!

I've just found this old ass necklace, it's probably fifteen or 14 years old or something. We had the Spice Girls back in the 90's but since I'm from '93 I was a little young to enjoy the culture that was and is the Spice Girls. But of course, having an older sister who's six years older than me, I grew up with the Spice Girls. Songs like Stop right now, spice up your life, who do you think you are, viva forever, say you'll be there, 2 become 1... lots of awesome songs that I probably still know by heart. Also, I can remember my sister having the most awesome lollipops in the world with Spice Girl wrappers and I think chewing gum inside or something? It's amazing how you can still remember these silly little things. My favorite Spice Girl was baby spice, Emma. She was and is such a cutie, maybe it was an early girl crush I had. :-D Now that I think about it, the nineties were full of awesome girl bands. Spice Girls, TLC, Destiny's child and I'm thinking that the Sugababes also came in the late 90's (I'll throw No Doubt in there too because of the strong female vocalist). Just from the top of my head, some of their songs were of course about being in love and digging on dudes but a lot of songs were also about female independence and growing up with that music was pretty cool. I kind of miss cool girl bands. :-(

Awesome necklace, right? As proof of it old assness... the string broke after one day of wearing it. I might go find a different band to tie the pendant on. What's your favorite Spice Girl song or even better, who's your favorite girl band?

'bout the outfit! I still had some aftercurls from my pincurling so I wanted to go seventies. I'm thinking this was a pretty cool outfit and I love this shirt :-D. Only 1 more outfit to go and after that Imma show you guys my new haircolors! OH and I got Zelda: Skyward Sword yesterday, from my boyfriend! I got a textmessage from the store where I pre-ordered Skyward Sword yesterday and I was freaking out inside knowing that I probably wouldn't have it before saturday so I mailed my boyfriend who was at college at the time. Between classes he mostly checks his facebook and hotmail and his cellphone is broken (as a final warning! I WILL give him a cellphone for his birthday if he doesn't buy one himself! I hate not being able to contact him at all times, what if his bus is delayed or he was in an accident or... well, you get the picture. :-D)  so I couldn't text him either. He said something random like 'I'm not sure whether I will be home in time to go get the game with you (he also had the car), we'll see.'

So I waited and waited and 15 minutes after the store closed... my boyfriend comes home. The first thing I think when I see him all happy and sneaky is "AHH HE GOT IT FOR ME!" but he kept telling me he didn't. So I went cranky pants on him, especially after he told me that he probably wouldn't be home soon enough today either. After fifteen minutes of crankypantsing around he probably thought he'd broken my heart into tiny pieces enough so he got his schoolbag out of the car and showed the Skyward Sword box to me. I went crazy happy and I showered him with kisses and for fifteen minutes. So now, my friends... IMMA PLAY SOME ZELDA! Love you!

A quick one, while he's away

Lovedoves, I don't have much time today to tell you a nice bedtime story because my boyfriend is helping me with brushing up my math (which I'm not minding actually! I love learning new stuff more than I thought I hated math!) and it's already eleven in the evening here in ol' Belgium so I'm gonna go to bed in a little while. I have to get up early to go trade a shirt in my mom bought for me as a present, with her knowledge, since it was so hideously not me. My mom's a real sweetheart but she has a long line of buying her daughters the most godawful clothing in the entire world. And my boy needs the car in the afternoon so Imma go trade it in first thing in the early morning. I'm just posting my outfit and a fresh batch of pincurls! Love you and see you later! Oh and a special mentioning for my niece, Ally, who had her first leading role in a musical at her school as Mulan!! YEAH! I love Mulan!! It 'premiered' today and I hope everything went great but I'm sure it did, she's gonna rock everybodies socks off.

Let the sunshine in

The day I wore this outfit... the weather was inredible. I didn't need a jacket, the sun was shining and there was a nice crisp breeze that I love in spring and fall. Most of the time I love mixing up my colors and prints but sometimes I just love to be comfy and feminine and twirly. And when I want to be all those things, I go for sneakers, dresses and a cool belt. And tights of course, when it's a little chilly. I don't know how often I've said it but MAN this indian summer is well, good and very long! It has hardly rained and the cloudiness was very minimal, especially for Belgium! And it's already november. It's crazy man, just crazy. I don't mind it! But I remember it was already snowing around this time last year. So weird. My hair is dyed differently by the way but in the coming posts they'll still be old and muddy :-D. I'll try to work through these outfits a little quicker because I'm curious about what you guys will think of mah new do. Also, my hair is getting really long. I don't mind it but once in a while I dream about all the cute short hairdo's I used to have. I really love the feeling of the wind in my neck and ears, is that weird? :-D I just remember that, when coming from the hairdresser. jumping on my bike, I always loved the feeling of the wind. Oh well, I might go to the hairdresser one of these weeks. Not to get a super short do but I might get my hair a little tweaked here and there. Shorter at the back, perhaps.
Hope you're having a wonderful day and have fun in the weekend!
